Highgate Apartments in Barre recently hosted the 2-week Highgate Funnery Shakespeare Camp. Eighteen children ages 10 to 15 from Highgate Apartments and nearby Green Acre Apartments worked very hard to prepare a performance of Macbeth, arguably one of Shakespeare’s darkest and most demanding plays.
After a rousing performance, the actors received accolades from their ardent fans, T-shirts, and attendance and participation awards made possible through a grant secured by Peter Gould and the Funnery. Three of the actor-participants who were siblings used their attendance awards to cap off performance day with a back-to-school shopping trip and dinner out for their family.
