nprOur friend Ludy Biddle of Neighborworks of Western Vermont was interviewed by NPR's Nina Keck last week about their successful weatherization loan program.

Biddle explained that the program works because most people save more on their utility bills each month than they spend on the loan's monthly payment.  The program has helped increase the number of Rutland County households undertaking efficiency upgrades from 26 in 2010 to 900 today.

Like Neighborworks, VHFA knows the importance of investing in the energy efficiency of homes owned by low and moderate income Vermonters.  Each foreclosed home renovated and sold through our HARP program contains top-of-the-line energy improvements to ensure the home's utility costs are as manageable as possible in for many years to come.
