COTS Housing Resource Center moves

The COTS Housing Resource Center (HRC) is moving to 294 N. Winooski Ave., Burlington, on Nov. 1.
Their phone, fax and email address will remain the same.
The HRC will be closed from Friday, Oct. 29 through Wednesday, Nov. 3. During that time, families and individuals can apply for back rent or security deposit assistance at Community Action’s Housing Assistance Program at 191 North St.
CCRPC wins $1 million HUD grant

The Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission (CCRPC) will receive nearly $1 million in the form is a Sustainable Communities Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD).
Shelley Poticha, Director of HUD's Office of Sustainable Housing and Communities Department, notifed CCRPC Executive Director Charles Baker of the grant decision last week.
VHFA is one of many partners in the $995,000 grant.

On Sept. 26, gubernatorial candidates Brian Dubie (R) and Peter Shumlin (D) spoke to a joint meeting of the Vermont Affordable Housing Coalition (VAHC) and the Vermont Coalition to End Homelessness.

Housing Vermont honors Stewart, Martinez

Housing Vermont presented two awards at its September meeting of its Board of Directors: Paul Stewart received the Michael M. Richardson Award; Marty Martinez received the Mile Jensen Award.
The Michael M. Richardson Award recognizes outstanding leadership, volunteer commitment, and the contribution of resources that enhance Housing Vermont’s ability to provide permanently affordable housing for Vermonters.
Cathedral Square Corp. wins national award

Cathedral Square Corp. (CSC) in Burlington won a 2010 MetLife Foundation Award for Excellence in Affordable Housing.
Enterprise Community Partners Inc. and MetLife Foundation present the awards for best practices in green, service-enriched housing for low-income seniors.
AmeriCorps VISTA member joins VAHC

Santina "Sunny" Leporati has started at the Vermont Affordable Housing Coalition in Burlington as an AmeriCorps VISTA member.
Sunny recently graduated from the University of Vermont (UVM) with a Masters in Public Administration. She also holds a Bachelors in Public Communication from UVM.
"I have always thought of safe, affordable housing as a basic human right, a right necessary for positive growth and development for any given community," she writes. "I am excited to be working on preserving and expanding that right."
CHT receives $74,000 Treasury grant

Our friends across the street at Champlain Housing Trust (CHT) were selected by the U.S. Department of the Treasury to receive a $74,000 grant.
The money will go to explore expansion of CHT's lending program.

Robin is Executive Director of the Addison County Economic Development Corp. in Middlebury. John continues to be an active member of the board.
Chaffee receives TPHT's Housing Hero award

Jonathan Chaffee, Executive Director of the Lebanon Housing Authority (LHA), received Twin Pines Housing Trust’s (TPHT) 2010 Housing Hero award.
TPHT gives the award to those who go above and beyond normal effort to provide for the basic human need of clean, safe and dignified shelter.
