BURLINGTON, VT  Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) Office Manager Rebecca Greenough was certified a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI). The certification is the result of an intensive course of study in strategic planning, compensation and benefits, HR development, employee rights, and other HR issues, followed by a four-hour exam. “This certification represents a tremendous amount of initiative on Becky’s part,” said VHFA Executive Director Sarah Carpenter.

BURLINGTON—Executive Director Sarah Carpenter announced that Lori J. Gilding of South Burlington has joined VHFA as Executive Assistant. Gilding coordinates VHFA Board of Commissioners activities, provides administrative support to executive managers, and assists the Office Manager with Agency functions. Gilding served as Legal Assistant/Marketing Coordinator at Burlington law firm Dinse, Knapp & McAndrew PC beginning in January 2005. Before that, she was an Executive Assistant at Lane Press Inc. in South Burlington.

BURLINGTON—VHFA Development Underwriter Liza Vedder Plantilla has been elected President of the 15- member Board of Directors of the Vermont Green Building Network in Burlington. “I look forward to reaching out to those who want to ensure buildings are constructed, rehabilitated and maintained in a way that's environmentally responsible,” says Plantilla, who has served as the network’s Treasurer for two years. “Green building isn’t anything new to Vermonters. It’s a solid building ethic that includes conservation of materials, and minimizing waste and environmental impact.

BURLINGTON— Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) has good news for prospective homebuyers — a lower mortgage interest rate. VHFA has lowered the rate on a 30-year, no points, fixed rate loan to 5.65 percent. The new rate became effective Feb. 12. “We’re always looking for opportunities to lower our rates whenever market conditions allow,” explained VHFA Executive Director Sarah Carpenter.

BURLINGTON— Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) Executive Director Sarah Carpenter announced that Kim Roy of Williston and Kathy Curley of Burlington have been promoted. Roy, who has been with the Agency since 1989, was promoted from Multifamily Management Officer to Assistant Director Multifamily Programs. In her new position, she fills the lead role for business process review in conjunction with information technology services and related initiatives for multifamily property development and multifamily management.

BURLINGTON— Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) has dropped the interest rate on a 30- year, no points, fixed-rate loan to 5.75 percent. The new low rate is expected to help more Vermonters realize their dream of homeownership. The new rate became effective today. “We strive to give our customers the lowest rates we possibly can,” said VHFA Executive Director Sarah Carpenter. “When market conditions permit, we always take the opportunity to lower rates. But those conditions change constantly, so we can never predict how long any rate will last.

BURLINGTON—Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) is selling holiday note cards to benefit the United Way of Chittenden County. The full-color cards are printed on recycled stock with earth-friendly vegetable-based ink, and feature original artwork donated by Polly Thibault, who works as a Loss Management Specialist for VHFA. VHFA is selling the cards with envelopes in packs of 10 for $10 through the VHFA Web site at www.vhfa.org/united_way.php. Orders can be placed online, or submitted using a printable PDF form available at the site.
