property_taxVermonters pay property taxes of 1.66% of their home values on average, according to a new report prepared by the Tax Policy Center.  This places the state firmly in the top ten, which also includes Connecticut, Illinois, Michigan, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Texas, and Wisconsin.

Wondering how your county compares?  Check out a new tool from the Tax Policy Center.   The tool draws from American Community Survey county-level estimates.

For more information at the community level, go to the Vermont Housing Data website, select your community and scroll down to the “Homeownership costs” area.
