abby smithVHFA's Policy and Planning Department will welcome Abby Smith as a research intern beginning Tuesday.

Abby, whose work will be funded by a Sustainable Communities Grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) to the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission and VHFA, will focus on producing a housing needs assessment for Chittenden County.

A native of Massachusetts who earned her undergraduate degree in Geography from Middlebury College, Abby's working on her master's degree in the University of Vermont's Community Development & Applied Economics program.

She was an intern in Massachusetts working to coordinate resident training in Public Housing, and currently serves as a teaching assistant for a research methods course in UVM's graduate department.

"She has a great blend of research and housing background, and we're looking forward to putting her to work helping determine the housing needs of Chittenden County," says Policy and Planning Manager Maura Collins.

Welcome, Abby!
