For home buyers shopping for affordable homes in Vermont, the search just became a little easier.

VHFA unveiled a new on-line tool this week that allows users to search for Real Estate Owned and Public Sale homes for sale at the state or county level.

In addition, VHFA’s web site continues to list the many homes for sale through the Housing Acquisition Rehabilitation Program (HARP). Through this program, homes that were once foreclosed on by other lenders (besides VHFA) are acquired, rehabilitated, and resold.   Before being resold, they are extensively renovated with significant energy efficiency improvements and new energy star rated appliances right down to new washers and dryers.  Renovations are done with the intent that a home buyer will not need to make any major repairs or improvements for at least 5 to 10 years.   Buyers of homes in this program must meet income eligibility requirements.
