BURLINGTON, VT  Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) Communications Coordinator Craig Bailey attended “An Event Apart” (AEA), a two-day conference for Web designers, held June 23-24 at the Marriott Copley Place in Boston, Mass. Speakers at the event included AEA co-founders Jeffrey Zeldman and Eric Meyer, and a dozen other Web professionals. Bailey joined Zeldman on stage for a critique of Vermont Housing Data (www.housingdata.org), a site Bailey designed and developed as part of a team from VHFA and the University of Vermont’s Center for Rural Studies. Zeldman congratulated him for his slick approach to a potentially dry topic like housing data. Zeldman is a lecturer, author, and co-founder of AEA who is considered a prime evangelist in the movement toward designing with Web standards. Bailey has designed and developed a number of sites for VHFA and its partners, including VHFA’s site (www.vhfa.org), Vermont Affordable Housing Coalition (www.vtaffordablehousing.org), Vermont Resident Service Coordinators (www.vrsc.org), and the Vermont Coalition to End Homelessness (www.helpingtohouse.org). This was his second trip to AEA, Boston. AEA is presented by “A List Apart” (www.alistapart.com), an online magazine that explores the design, development, and meaning of Web content, with a focus on Web standards and best practices.
