BURLINGTON, VT  Gov. Jim Douglas has appointed Thomas N. Pelletier of Montpelier to the VHFA Board of Commissioners. “Tom’s been a highly-respected member of Vermont’s lending community for a decade,” says Executive Director Sarah Carpenter. “We’re all looking forward to the energy and fresh perspective he’ll bring to our Board.” Pelletier has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Northfield Savings Bank in Northfield since 1998. He serves as a Director of the Vermont Chamber of Commerce, Public Television of Vermont, Norwich University Applied Research Institutes, Ltd. and the Central Vermont Economic Development Corp.; a Trustee of Carrabassett Valley Academy in Carrabassett Valley, Maine; and a member of the Community Bankers Council of the American Bankers Association. Pelletier fills the vacancy created by the departure of Paul Beaulieu, former Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer of Factory Point National Bank. VHFA’s Board of Commissioners governs the Agency. The Board includes four ex-officio members and five members appointed by the Governor of Vermont, representing private and public lending, real estate, and housing development interests. VHFA was created by the Vermont Legislature in 1974 to finance and promote affordable housing opportunities for low- and moderate-income Vermonters. Since its inception, the Agency has helped approximately 26,000 Vermont households with affordable mortgages and financed the development of 7,400 affordable rental units.
