BURLINGTON—Executive Director Sarah Carpenter announced Renee Couture of Burlington has accepted the position of Financial Analyst/Compliance Specialist. In her new role, Couture is responsible for the reconciliation of bank and general ledger accounts and trustee billing for the Agency, as well as the accounting for several U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) programs administered by VHFA. She’s also responsible for the compliance related activities for the Finance Department, including tracking the calendar of compliance deliverables related to bond financing, lines of credit and other regulatory reporting requirements. She will be responsible for tracking the Agency’s bond usage; some compliance portfolio reviews; and Electronic Municipal Market Access (EMMA) updates. Couture joined VHFA in 2002 as an Administrative Assistant, and most recently held the position of Legal Coordinator. The Vermont Legislature created VHFA in 1974 to finance and promote affordable housing opportunities for low- and moderate-income Vermonters. Since its inception, the Agency has helped approximately 27,000 Vermont households with affordable mortgages and financed the development of approximately 8,400 affordable rental units.
