BURLINGTON—Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) is selling holiday note cards to benefit the United Way of Chittenden County. The full-color cards are printed on recycled stock with earth-friendly vegetable-based ink, and feature original artwork donated by Polly Thibault, who works as a Loss Management Specialist for VHFA. VHFA is selling the cards with envelopes in packs of 10 for $10 through the VHFA Web site at www.vhfa.org/united_way.php. Orders can be placed online, or submitted using a printable PDF form available at the site. “VHFA is a strong supporter of United Way of Chittenden County,” according to Executive Director Sarah Carpenter. “I’m proud of the generosity staff members exhibit every year by choosing to give to the United Way, and am excited at the prospect of raising even more money for such a worthy cause through this year’s note card sale.” All proceeds from the sale will help fund the many member organizations the United Way of Chittenden County supports to improve the lives of people in Chittenden County, including a number of organizations that help Vermonters with affordable housing, such as: Chittenden Community Action, Committee on Temporary Shelter (COTS), HomeShare Vermont and Vermont YWCA Inc. The order deadline is Friday, Nov. 4. Cards will be mailed to buyers no later than Nov. 16. Printing costs for this project have been generously discounted by L. Brown & Sons Printing Inc. of Barre. VHFA was created by the Vermont Legislature in 1974 to finance and promote the development of affordable housing opportunities for low- and moderate-income Vermonters. Since it’s inception, VHFA has helped more than 25,000 households with affordable mortgages and financed the creation of nearly 7,000 affordable rental units. More information about VHFA and its programs is available on the Agency Web site, www.vhfa.org.
