The Vermont Agency of Natural Resources is seeking input from the business community about their experiences with permitting and environmental regulation in Vermont.  Please share your insights at one of the "listening tour" meetings the Agency is holding over the next two weeks at locations around the state.

Best Practices in Supportive Housing Training Feb. 14

As a part of the ongoing Roadmap to End Homelessness work that VHFA has partially funded through a partnership with the Agency of Human Services, Vermont Housing & Conservation Board and many others, national experts on Supportive Housing will be in Vermont next week to provide a training on best practices.

Housing developers, managers, and advocates are strongly encouraged to attend to learn about the most successful ways of creating affordable housing with necessary supportive services to increase households’ success in living independently after homelessness.

Applications for federal and state housing credits due February 10

Applications for the 2017 round of federal capped (9%) Low-Income Housing Tax Credits and Vermont State Housing Credits are due to VHFA by Friday, February 10, 2017Housing credits are the largest source of funding in Vermont for building and renovating affordable rental housing.

Secrets of Homebuying Workshop in Lebanon February 11

Twin Pines Housing Trust is offering a "Secrets of Homebuying Workshop" on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.  Participants will learn how to apply for a mortgage with special financing, closing costs, work with a realtor, budgeting, credit and homeowners insurance.  Fee is $65 per household.

Film “The Hungry Heart” featured at VT Resident Services Coordinators March meeting

On Wednesday, March 8, 2017, Bess O’Brien, a nationally celebrated, VT based documentary film maker will present her award winning film The Hungry Heart   The 93-minute film is a thoughtful and revealing look at prescription drug addiction shot right here in Vermont.  The event is coordinated by Vermont Resident Services Coordinators (VRSC) and sponsored by VHFA and Vermont Housing Managers Association.  Please R.S.V.P.

NPR interviews Secretary Castro about transition to new HUD leadership

HUD Secretary Julian Castro described his hopes for the transition to new leadership during an interview with NPR yesterday. 

A congressional confirmation hearing, scheduled for Thursday, will provide an opportunity for nominee Ben Carson to share his goals for U.S. housing policy.
