How do I start?

  1. Contact a VHFA Participating Lender:  Only a VHFA Participating Lender can pre-qualify you for a VHFA loan and start the application process.  Contact the Participating Lender of your choice from this complete list.

  2. Select VHFA program:  The VHFA Participating Lender will review program options to help determine the best fit.

  3. Complete homebuyer education and counseling:  All VHFA mortgage programs require borrowers to complete pre-purchase homebuyer education and counseling.  VHFA strongly recommends completion of pre-purchase homebuyer education and counseling early in the home buying process.

  4. VHFA Participating Lender processes the loan and prepares for closing:  The VHFA Participating Lender will collect documents, finalize the terms of the loan and manage the loan closing.
