Governor Shumlin joined leaders from VHFA, the Vermont Legislature and the business community today to launch a bold new effort to help the state’s first-time home buyers. Each qualified buyer will receive up to $5,000 for down payment and closing costs.
Governor Peter Shumlin will join VHFA, as well as legislative and business leaders, to announce the launch of VHFA’s down payment assistance program. Passed by the legislature as a part of the economic development bill, the state increased its existing Vermont Housing Tax Credit program to allow VHFA to sell tax credits to an investor to raise funds to create the program.

Brattleboro Housing Partnership and Housing Vermont broke ground this past Monday on a 55-unit affordable housing project. These two organizations have partnered together to build Red Clover Commons, a three-story senior housing complex located on a 2.8-acre site in Brattleboro.

There were smiles a plenty in Putney Thursday as the community celebrated the renovation of the historic Plantz house at 27 Old Depot Road. The apartments will be managed by Windham and Windsor Housing Trust who oversaw the renovation process.
The Vermont Housing & Conservation Board is excited to announce their fall conference, ‘Envisioning Vermont 2025′.

Tony Hernandez, USDA Rural Development’s (RD) Rural Housing Service Administrator, visited VHFA to share his plans for RD’s programs and policies for the future. The roundtable format brought together 20 housing leaders from across the state including Rutland, the Northeast Kingdom, and northwestern Vermont.
