Northgate celebrates 20 years

northgate apartments graphicJoin the residents of the Northgate housing complex in Burlington this Saturday for a celebration of 20 years of resident leadership.

The Northgate Residents' Ownership Corp. recently acquired ownership of the property, making it 100 percent resident-owned.

The party runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 275 Northgate Road in Burlington with free food, activities and performances.

Joe Erdelyi to speak at developers conference

The event will include program updates, case studies, round table discussions and networking events.

Mortgage class to be offered at VAR conference

She'll present the four-hour class with Universal Mortgage's Marilyn Morin Roberts at the Vermont Association of REALTORS (VAR) Northeast Real Estate Conference and Expo in South Burlington.

Nominations open for downtown awards

The awards will be presented as part of the 2009 Vermont Downtown Conference, Friday, Nov. 6, at the Middlebury Inn and Town Hall Theater.

Deadline for nominations is Oct. 1.

Neighborhood stabilization plan webinars

Foreclosure-Response.org is presenting "Making It Work," a series of four free webinars providing practical information on areas that are challenging for those attempting to implement neighborhood stabilization plans (NSP).

The sessions will be useful to NSP grantees and partners, as well as others working on this issue.

The "Making It Work" series will take place on four consecutive Tuesdays: Sept. 15, 22, 29 and Oct. 6. Each session will consist of a webinar followed by an online discussion.

Shumlin, Smith to speak at VAHC/VCEH joint meeting

They will share their perspectives on the past year and the year ahead.

VHFA to welcome MOBIUS guest speaker

VHFA's Socially Responsible Committee has announced the next speaker in its Community Awareness Program (CAP) series.

Tracy MacLean from MOBIUS, the mentoring movement, will present to staff Sept. 24.

She'll talk about the MOBIUS mission to increase high-quality, adult-to-youth mentoring relationships in Chittenden County.

The Socially Responsible Committee is a group of VHFA staff members helping assure the Agency conducts its business in a socially responsible manner.
