U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy (right) announced a $200,000 commitment in U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) Economic Development Initiative (EDI) funds for Salisbury Square in Randolph.

Sen. Leahy was joined yesterday by Chuck Lief (left) of The Hartland Group and Marty Strange, Chair of the Board of Randolph Area Community Development Corp., sponsor of the project.

The 4-acre site is a former brownfield, adjacent to downtown, which includes the Bookkeeper Building (pictured), formerly part of the Ethan Allen Corp. Developers will restore the historic structure to include four rental units and property management space. The project will also include 14 rental units for families. A future phase calls for 22 homeownership units.

All buildings will be LEED certified.

VHFA has committed Tax Credits to the project, and has provided a pre-development loan.
