Three Tomatoes benefit for Champlain Housing Trust

On Wednesday, Oct. 28, all four locations of the Italian eatery will donate $1 to CHT for each dinner entree sold.

Three Tomatoes can be found in Burlington, Rutland and Williston, Vt.; and Lebanon, N.H.

Affordable Rental Housing ACTION signs 100th supporter

Affordable Rental Housing ACTION has reached 100 signed supporters.

The Washington, D.C.-based campaign to stimulate investment in affordable rental housing reached the milestone today.

The organization has drafted three legislative proposals it hopes will help restore investment in affordable rental housing, produce and preserve affordable units, and employ tens of thousands of workers.

Brooks appointed DHECD Commissioner

Gov. Jim Douglas has appointed Tayt Brooks Commissioner of the Department of Housing, Economic and Community Development (DHECD).

Brooks had been Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Housing and Community Development, which merged with the Department of Economic Development to form DHECD.

Previously he worked as the Government Affairs Director for the Home Builders’ & Remodelers’ Association of Northern Vermont.

Bill Noyes has become DHECD Deputy Commissioner.

New Cathedral Square Web site

OCC releases reverse mortgage advisory

publication coverThe Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) has published “Reverse Mortgages: Are They for You?,” a consumer advisory to help folks better understand reverse mortgages.


Burlington's Committee on Temporary Shelter (COTS) is looking for donations of winter coats to help its clientele of homeless Vermonters prepare for the cold weather.

VHFA's Socially Responsible Committee has started a campaign to encourage employees to purge their closets of unneeded coats and jackets to donate to the cause.

The 62-page publication is a performance evaluation of CHT written by John Emmeus Davis of Burlington Associates in Community Development LLC and former CHT employee Alice Stokes.
