Proctorsville Green Housing won the "Best of the Best Award" from Efficiency Vermont for energy efficient single-family homes.

The $3.5 million project, which was completed just more than a year ago, consists of 16 permanently affordable rental apartments and four new homeownership townhouses spread among three locations.

An energy audit, performed this past autumn, found the project realized energy savings of $2,400 a year. Allowing for a 4 percent annual inflation rate for fuel costs, the project will save approximately $340,000 over its 30-year mortgage.

VHFA allocated federal Tax Credits to the project.
