The West River Valley senior housing complex Townshend opened a newly-constructed wing of the assisted living building for twelve additional Vermont households.  These new apartments offer the flexibility of independent living with a supportive array of in-house services.

As of yesterday’s ribbon cutting, only two of the twelve new units were still available.   For information, contact Valley Cares at (802) 365-4115.

Development funding for these units was provided in part by VHFA through an allocation of federal Low-Income Housing Tax Credits.  The project was developed by Housing Vermont and Valley Cares,  Inc.  with additional construction funds provided through People’s United Bank.  Other funders included the Town of Townshend through the Vermont Community Development Program, Vermont Housing and Conservation Board,  HUD’s HOME program, Fanny Ames and Edna Holt Fund, private fundraising by Valley Cares, and Efficiency Vermont.
