The amount of income needed to afford a modest apartment puts Vermont among the most expensive states in the country, according to today’s Out of Reach 2015 report, jointly released by the National Low Income Housing Coalition and the Vermont Affordable Housing Coalition. To afford a modest, two-bedroom apartment, Vermont renters are likely to need to earn $20.68 per hour, or $43,017 a year, the report explains, which ranks Vermont as the 13th most expensive state in the country.
