BURLINGTON—Vermont Housing Finance Agency’s Director of Administration, Patricia Loller, was named Vermont’s Human Resources Professional of the Year on Monday by the Society of Human Resources Management. In presenting the award, Donna Austin-Hawley, President of the Vermont Human Resources Association (VHRA), noted Ms. Loller’s unmatched work ethic, energy, and organization in the leadership roles she has held with VHRA. The benefits of her work have touched human resource professionals statewide as VHRA Vice President, Program Committee member and Audit Committee member. In addition, Ms. Loller has contributed greatly to the profession as representative to the Society of Human Resources Management. Ms. Austin-Hawley described Ms. Loller’s style as highly effective yet without fanfare, somewhat like a “wizard behind the curtain.” Ms. Loller, of South Burlington, has been at VHFA for over 15 years. During this time she helped guide the agency through transitions and reorganization in her role first leading the IT department and then in an expanded role that includes all administrative operations, including human resources. With “her usual diligence, attention her to detail, and grace, Pat’s leadership in these areas has helped VHFA become a model place to be employed,” explained Executive Director Sarah Carpenter. VHFA is a non-profit agency created in 1974 by the Vermont Legislature to finance and promote affordable housing opportunities for low- and moderate-income Vermonters. Since its inception, the Agency has helped approximately 27,000 Vermont households with affordable mortgages and financed the development of approximately 8,400 affordable rental units.
