BURLINGTON, VT  The New England Affordable Housing Management Association (NEAHMA) honored Sam Falzone, VHFA's Director of Multifamily Programs, at their 25th annual conference this week in Norwood, MA. Mr. Falzone was presented the 2013 “Agency Staff Person of the Year” award by Nancy Hogan, NEAMA Vice President Agency Liaison on October 15, 2013. Appointed to the original NEAHMA Board in 1989, Mr. Falzone has maintained his support for this prominent New England training organization for many years. Joining VHFA’s staff in 1979, Mr. Falzone has been VHFA’s Multifamily Program Director since 1991 where the major focus of his work has been the preservation of Vermont’s affordable rental housing stock. The Vermont Legislature created VHFA in 1974 to finance and promote affordable housing opportunities for low- and moderate-income Vermonters. Since its inception, the Agency has helped approximately 27,000 Vermont households with affordable mortgages and financed the development of approximately 8,400 affordable rental units.
