Multifamily budget documents updated

Owners and managers of VHFA-financed multifamily properties take note: We've just posted new documents for your 2009 budgets.

As in past years, we're providing you with a memo, instructions and an Excel worksheet — the Form 805. There're also updated documents for mobile home parks — the Form 905.

All these are available for download in the "Forms, documents and memos" section of our Web site.

CVCLT extends mini-grant deadline

Central Vermont Community Land Trust (CVCLT) has extended the deadline for its 2008 Mini-Grants for Central Vermont to Sept. 12.

These grants will range from $500 to $1,000 and will go to community groups or town committees in towns and cities of Washington County and northern Orange County that are working to develop housing-related projects.

Winning financial services proposals selected

We've completed our RFP process to select a firm or firms to provide VHFA with financial advisory services.

VHFA has selected Piper Jaffray, our current financial advisor, to continue in its role as the Agency's General Financial Advisor and Swap Advisor.

We've also selected three firms to act as GIC Bidding Agents for VHFA:

Conference details online

We've posted descriptions for the 18 workshops of the 2008 Vermont Statewide Housing Conference, and have started posting speaker bios as they roll in.

The conference is Vermont's premiere housing event, coming around every two years. This year's event will be Tuesday, Nov. 18 at the Sheraton Burlington Hotel & Conference Center in South Burlington.

Center for Rural Studies celebrates 30 years

Our friends and partners at the Center for Rural Studies (CRS) at the University of Vermont (UVM) in Burlington are ramping up for their 30th anniversary celebration coming this fall.

The Center will hold a free anniversary symposium on Saturday, Oct. 4 at UVM's Davis Center. The day-long event will include:

VHFA gets physical for summer

This Friday marks the beginning of VHFA's next wellness program: weekly workouts to exercise videos.

Staff are encouraged to gather in the Agency's Board Room during the lunch hour two or three days a week to exercise along with the video of the day.

The program is the latest in the Agency's on-going wellness initiative to encourage better nutrition and exercise among staff members.

VAHC seeks AmeriCorps VISTA member

The Vermont Affordable Housing Coalition (VAHC) is looking for an AmeriCorps VISTA member to help the organization in a variety of capacities.

The start date will depend on date of application — either in late August or November — and the placement will last one year.

A modest living allowance will be provided, as well as an end-of-service stipend of $1,200 or education award of $4,725.

Vermont Energy Saver Program launches

vermont energy saver logoYou might have recently seen or read stories in the news about the new Vermont Energy Saver Program.

The program is designed to assist Vermont homeowners in reducing energy bills by financing energy efficiency improvements to their homes.

The program's being offered by six regional revolving loan funds, in partnership with the State and VHFA.
