The Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) Board of Commissioners announced yesterday that its annual allocation of federal housing tax credits will support the development of 130 permanently affordable apartments in five communities across the state.

VHFA grants $120,000 to help meet immediate housing needs arising from Coronavirus pandemic
In response to the Coronavirus pandemic, Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) announced today the award of $100,000 in grants to the state’s nonprofit housing providers and public housing agencies. Another $20,000 will be donated to Vermont-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations selected by VHFA’s 38 staff members.
VHFA joins VTTAR to fund recovery housing
Recently on Recovery Day at the Statehouse, the Vermont Alliance of Recovery Residences (VTARR) announced the establishment of Jenna’s Fund, which provides financial support for recovery housing for Vermonters overcoming substance use disorders. The initiative is funded in large part by a $90,000 grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston (FHLB), obtained by Vermont Housing and Finance Agency (VHFA).
VHFA signs Vermont Equal Pay Compact
Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) is proud to announce that it has signed the Vermont Equal Pay Compact through the Vermont Commission on Women. The compact is a pledge by Vermont employers to show their commitment to closing the wage gap. The Vermont Commission on Women offers signers support and strategies for creating an equitable workforce.
“VHFA is excited to show its support for building fairer workplaces,” explained Steve Gronlund, VHFA’s Director of Human Resources and Administration. “Not only is it the right thing to do, it will also encourage the Agency in its ongoing effort to recruit and retain a highly qualified and motivated workforce,” Gronlund continued.

Ribbon-cutting celebrated at Jeudevine in Hardwick
VHFA joined Lamoille Housing Partnership (LHP) and Housing Vermont last week for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Jeudevine Housing. The project involved the extensive rehabilitation of three buildings in downtown Hardwick, preserving 18 affordable apartments and a commercial business space. Jeudevine received nearly half of its funding from federal tax credits awarded by VHFA.
State seeks feedback for HUD Consolidated Plan
The State of Vermont’s Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is inviting the public to complete a survey on community needs to inform its upcoming HUD Consolidated Plan.
The 5-year HUD Consolidated Plan outlines priorities for over $10 million in funding that Vermont will use for affordable housing and community development from 2020 through 2024. DHCD's survey asks for input on local needs for public facilities, job creation, housing and homelessness, which will be incorporated into the plan.
