VHFA projects receive Smart Growth Awards
Vermont Housing Finance Agency is a partner in two of the four projects receiving Smart Growth Awards this evening.
Proctorsville Green Revitalization (top) in Cavendish includes 20 affordable rentals and four affordable townhomes. VHFA provided construction financing and allocated Tax Credits.
The site's on the village green — within walking distance of churches, a school, library, firehouse and several stores — and includes space for the village post office and a yarn and fabric shop.
COTS/HRC looking for Outreach Housing Specialist
The Committee on Temporary Shelter (COTS) and Housing Resource Center (HRC) in Burlington are looking to hire an Outreach Housing Specialist.
HRC is a community clearinghouse for information on housing options and resources for the homeless, the marginally housed and those at risk of losing their housing in Chittenden County.
The Outreach Housing Specialist will act as the housing resource liaison for members of the Continuum of Care of Chittenden County and for households who are homeless and at risk of losing their housing.
This is a new, one-year, grant-funded position.

The Center for Research on Vermont is presenting a free seminar for data professionals this month: Research-in-Progress Seminar #222: "Counting Vermont in the 21st Century: The 2010 Census and Changes to Data on Our State and Communities."
Presented by Fred Schmidt (top) of the University of Vermont (UVM) and Chip Sawyer (bottom) of UVM's Center for Rural Studies, the session takes a look at the changing face of data collection in light of the new American Community Survey.
