VHFA to offer down payment and closing cost assistance for Vermonters
Housing Matters is pleased to announce that beginning Monday, April 1st 2013, VHFA will offer down payment and closing assistance grants. The grants will be available through the MOVE ASSIST program and to borrowers who qualify for a VHFA first mortgage insured by USDA Rural Development or the Veterans Association.

We closed two bond deals this week: one will fund mortgages for lower income homebuyers and the other restructures and provides the loans for 25 different multifamily rental projects, lowering their interest rates and extending how long the developments must remain affordable.

VHFA’s Martha Fleming retires
After almost 20 years of dedicated service to VHFA’s finance department, Martha Fleming is retiring.
VHFA staff celebrated Martha with goodies and well wishes for the next phase of her life. CFO Tom Connors commented that “she has certainly seen many changes at the Agency and in the industry…. the place won’t be the same without Martha’s dry sense of humor.”

A fond farewell to VHFA’s Sue Joachim
After 29 years at VHFA, Sue Joachim decided to retire from her post in the finance department.
Sue played several finance roles while at VHFA, most recently serving as its Accounting Specialist, focusing on accounts payable, cash receipts, and other responsibilities.
VHFA sent Sue off in the agency’s traditional style, with a staff celebration, delicious food and an ode from agency lyricist, Sam Falzone.
