Fire Safety Workshop for architects , contractors and building inspectors

The Vermont Division of Fire Safety will hold workshops at four Vermont locations during the month of October, designed for architechts, contractors, and building inspectors. The workshops will cover the changes and updates of the 2012 Vermont Fire and Building Safety Code as well as changes to the ADA and Vermont Access Rules. Elder Abuse Raising Awareness workshop, with Janette Floyd, Former Chief of Adult Protective Service

  • 10:00 AM-12:00 PM  Thayer House, 1197 North Avenue, Burlington, VT

This workshop will provide information that will assist you in identifying possible abuse, neglect or exploitation and what to do with that information. There will be a discussion about what happens during the investigation process and there will be opportunity to ask questions about cases you are unsure where they fall within the realm of the Vermont Statues, which protect vulnerable adults. Training is 10:15-11:15 am followed by networking, lunch and the annual VRSC meeting. 1 Continuing Education Unit issued by VHFA. Admission is FREE for Vermont Resident Service Coordinators & Vermont Housing Managers Association members. Non-Members are invited to attend for $10, which includes admission & lunch. American Institute of Architechts New England Annual Conference and Design Awards Program The theme is “Design of Place” and the program offers 14 AIA Learning Units, including workshops on aligning aesthetics and energy efficiency and tours of college campus structures, waterfront development, and net zero housing projects.
