VHFA is pleased to be partnering with and participating in the upcoming community investment forum “Leveraging Partnerships and Capital: Unlocking Barriers to Affordable Housing and Economic Development” on April 16 in Manchester, presented by the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston. The Manchester forum will be one of eight events throughout New England as part of the series.

VT-town

Speakers at the Manchester forum include:

  • Nancy Owens, Executive Director, Evernorth
  • Nate Formalarie, Deputy Commmissioner, VT Dept. of Housing & Community Development
  • Shela Linton, Executive Director, Root Social Justice Center
  • Seth Leonard, Managing Director of Community Development, VHFA

Affordable housing is in short supply throughout New England, making it challenging for new homebuyers to purchase their first home, low- and middle-income families to pay bills or plan ahead, or households of color to build income, equity, and intergenerational wealth. The cost of building continues to increase, putting even more pressure on our communities.

The forums will include keynote speakers and discussion panels and address critical elements of these challenges and solutions at play in Vermont and New England, including land use reforms, housing development best practices, and tools for successful affordable housing and economic development. The forum will also provide opportunities to share feedback to FHLBank Boston so that they can better help the community going forward.

The April 16 event will take place on Tuesday April 16 from 9am-1pm at the Taconic Hotel in Manchester. Lunch will be provided. Participants will hear from VHFA, the Root Social Justice Center and other housing, finance and developer perspectives.
