Staff from VHFA put down their pencils and picked up their hammers yesterday, repairing two Waterbury homes damaged by Tropical Storm Irene.  Both homes had been completely gutted and are now being rebuilt after the Winooski River surged through town when the storm hit.

Vermont homeowners, renters, community organizations, and businesses  still have time  to apply for help recovering from Tropical Storm Irene.  If you or someone you know has questions or has not registered or returned their applications for FEMA and SBA assistance, please call toll-free 800-621-FEMA (3362) or go online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov.

Registration is also available via web-enabled mobile device at m.fema.gov. Multilingual assistance is available if needed. Individuals with a speech disability or hearing loss who use a TTY can call 800-462-7585 directly; or 800-621-3362 if using 711 or Video Relay Service.

All applications to both FEMA and SBA must be submitted by November 15.
