Modifications to Vermont’s housing tax credit program for 2014
Vermont’s “difficult to develop” areas under the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit provisions have been revised to include all counties with the exception of Addison, Orleans, Caledonia and Essex for 2014.

Demand is growing for a year-old program that helps Vermonters who lack resources buy mobile homes, reported VPR recently. The program was developed through a partnership between VHFA, Champlain Housing Trust, the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development and the Vermont Housing and Conservation Board.

Vermonters replacing mobile homes get tax relief
Vermont owners of mobile homes damaged during the state's federally declared disasters last year will receive rebates of their Vermont Property Transfer Tax, Governor Shumlin announced yesterday.
Replacement homes must have been purchased between April 2, 2011 and June 30, 2012 to qualify for the rebate.

More than 100 mobile homes in Vermont were destroyed by Tropical Storm Irene and hundreds more were damaged. The age and unique phyical characterstics of mobile homes, siting and land ownership complexities, and limited financing options have presented seemingly insurmountable challenges for Vermonters faced with relocating or making repairs.
Number of mobile home lots in Vermont fell in 2011
Updated facts about mobile home parks now available from the Vermont Department of Community Affairs include:
- The number of individual lots in the state fell to 7,194 in 2011.
- The number of vacant lots is 310 (or 4.3%).
- The number of VT's mobile home parks rose to 248 in 2011, with the addition of Ledgewood Estates in Bolton containing five individual lots currently for sale to the residents and 3 Depot Street Mobile Home Park in Fair Haven-a three lot park currently bank-owned and for sale.
- The median lot rent is $302.

Post-Irene mobile home forum in Barre tonight
A forum will be held tonight, Wednesday October 19, 2011, at 6PM by the Mobile Home Residents for Equality and Fairness (MHREF). MHREF is a new resident organization of Vermonters displaced by Irene, who have witnessed first-hand the acute affordable housing crisis, and unique challenges in removing their destroyed homes in order to rebuild, relocate, and recover before impending winter.
The meeting will be held at Old Labor Hall, 46 Granite Street, Barre, Vermont.
