ASSIST Down Payment and Closing Cost Assistance

  • Available with VHFA Move, Move MCC, and Advantage
  • 0% interest loan with no monthly payments
  • Repaid when you sell, refinance or pay off your mortgage in full
  • Available to true first-time homebuyers*
  • Borrower & non-borrowing spouse combined liquid and non-retirement assets must be less than $30,000 

Mortgage Credit Certificate (MCC)

  • Federal tax credit up to $2,000 each year you live in the property and pay interest on your mortgage
  • Available with MOVE MCC or paired with a non-VHFA mortgage offered by a local VHFA participating lender.
