Research & Communications Coordinator

The Research and Communications Coordinator will collect data and conduct analysis of VHFA programs and the housing market for use by VHFA staff, management, Board, and for external stakeholders.  They will also manage the content on VHFA's core web site and satellite sites by developing and updating Agency-wide content, and promote the Agency’s programs and policies, housing research and advocacy information by making them accessible through VHFA's core and satellite web sites, writing reports, press releases, and social media posts. 

Candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in statistics, economics, political science, public policy/administration, business administration, communications & marketing, or a related subject, and two years’ experience with analysis of large data sets, use of sample estimates, and use of Census Bureau data.  An understanding of the national and local political environment is desirable.  Familiarity with housing policy and or government housing programs, graphic design and/or photo editing skills, and experience with Google Analytics, Drupal, and Tableau, are all a plus.  Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products are required, particularly Word, Excel, and Access, as is the ability to resolve problems in a systematic, efficient manner. 

In addition, candidates must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, be highly organized, and able to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines, while working with a wide range of individuals, both internal and external to the Agency.

Community Development Underwriter

Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA), located in Burlington VT, has an immediate opening for a Community Development Underwriter. Named one of the “Best Small/Medium Places to Work in Vermont” the last few years, VHFA is looking for an individual who will help us to maintain our great reputation, and who demonstrates an elevated level of professionalism, political awareness, and excellent analytical skills, puts customers first, and works well both independently and as a team player. 

This position supports the Development team through comprehensive analysis of prospective multifamily housing development loans, and tax credit award underwriting. Assists in the administration, development, and allocation portions of the Housing Credit program. Other duties include supporting existing portfolio workouts, implementing development programs, and coordination of reporting/data management relevant to development activities.  Contributes to the maintenance and implementation of policies and procedures relative to Development lending activities, with supporting policies and procedures related to program administration.  

Bachelor's degree in statistics, economics, political science, public policy/administration, business administration, or a related subject preferred.Two years of Housing Development or Housing Development Finance experience is encouraged, and certification or completed training for Affordable Housing Development is preferred. High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office products is desired, as is a creative problem-solving approach and good attention to detail. Familiarity with finance and financial risk analysis. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, and the candidate must work well as a team player with a wide array of people including developers, property owners and managers, State and Federal representatives and staff.
