Vermont Housing Finance Agency is a partner in two of the four projects receiving Smart Growth Awards this evening.
Proctorsville Green Revitalization (top) in Cavendish includes 20 affordable rentals and four affordable townhomes. VHFA provided construction financing and allocated Tax Credits.
The site's on the village green — within walking distance of churches, a school, library, firehouse and several stores — and includes space for the village post office and a yarn and fabric shop.
Partners in Proctorsville include Housing Vermont, the Rockingham Area Community Land Trust and the Town of Cavendish.
The Banknorth Block (bottom) in Burlington combines a mix of homes and office space in easy walking distance of bus routes, jobs, shops, schools and Burlington’s waterfront. VHFA provided Tax Credits to King Street Housing, which is part of the block.
Partners include Housing Vermont, Champlain Housing Trust, Redstone, and Farrell Real Estate.
Finney Crossing in Williston and the ReCycle North Social Enterprise Extension in Barre will also receive awards.
Robert E. Woolmington of North Bennington, founding chair of the Vermont Housing & Conservation Board, will receive the Arthur Gibb Award for Individual Leadership.
The awards will be presented tonight at the Basin Harbor Club in Vergennes by Smart Growth Vermont, a statewide non-profit organization focused on growth and conservation solutions for Vermont communities and working rural lands.
