NATIONAL HOUSING FINANCE EXPERTS KICK OFF VERMONT’S STATEWIDE HOUSING CONFERENCE

BURLINGTON—A packed room of about 430 people gathered this morning at the Burlington Hilton to hear Governor Shumlin’s opening address and the plenary session of the biennial Statewide Vermont Housing Conference. Shumlin recounted the challenges the state has overcome since Tropical Storm Irene caused the most devastation Vermont communities have ever experienced. Equipping our neighborhoods for the “climate change storms” of the future and rebuilding more durably is an absolute requirement, he explained.

MAURA COLLINS RECEIVES RISING STAR AWARD FROM VERMONT BUSINESS MAGAZINE

BURLINGTON—Vermont Housing Finance Agency’s Policy and Planning Manager, Maura Collins, received a Vermont Business Magazine Rising Star award at last night’s annual awards dinner in South Burlington, Vermont. Rising Star awards recognize 40 of Vermont’s most accomplished young leaders, all of whom are younger than 40. With 120 nominations this year, judges faced tough selection decisions. Selection is based on nominees’ commitment to business growth, professional excellence and involvement in their communities.

DIANE EDSON HIRED AS HOMEOWNERSHIP SPECIALIST

BURLINGTON—Executive Director Sarah Carpenter announced Diane Edson of South Burlington, VT has joined Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) as Homeownership Specialist. Diane was most recently employed at Shelter Mortgage, and previously at Universal Mortgage. Diane previously was employed at VHFA in a similar role until 2002. Jacklyn Santerre, VHFA’s Director of Homeownership commented, “Diane has continued to be involved with VHFA loans as a processor and underwriter for one of our top lenders.

BRITTANY BENTON HIRED AS ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST

BURLINGTON—Executive Director Sarah Carpenter announced Brittany Benton of Winooski, VT has joined Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) as Accounting Specialist. Brittany is a recent graduate of Saint Michael’s College with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Accounting and a Minor in Finance. Brittany originally hails from Limerick, ME.

DAVID ADAMS INDUCTED INTO THE NEW ENGLAND MORTGAGE BANKERS HALL OF FAME

BURLINGTON—VHFA’s Chief of Program Operations, David Adams, is being inducted into the New England Mortgage Bankers Hall of Fame today at its annual conference in Newport, Rhode Island. Hall of fame induction is the highest honor bestowed peer-to-peer for New England mortgage banking professionals. It highlights the outstanding contributions inductees have made to the New England mortgage banking industry over the past 25 years and to the communities they serve. Being selected “is a humbling experience,” Adams said.

BRITTANY RILEY PROMOTED TO HR/ OFFICE COORDINATOR

BURLINGTON—Executive Director Sarah Carpenter announced Brittany Riley of South Burlington has been promoted to HR/Office Coordinator at Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA). Riley joined the Agency in 2011 as an Administrative Assistant. She was promoted to the Administrative/Payroll Coordinator position in April of this year. Before joining VHFA, Brittany was employed at Vermont Gas Systems as the Front Desk Receptionist and prior to that, she served administrative roles at Women Helping Battered Women and Essex Alliance Church.

THREE YEARS OF SUCCESS FOR THE HOUSING ACQUISITION REHABILITATION PROGRAM (HARP)

BURLINGTON, VT  This month marks the completion of three years of Vermont’s Housing Acquisition & Rehabilitation Program (HARP)—a program that has helped renovate 55 homes as of March 31, 2012, including the historic St. Albans colonial purchased by first-time homebuyers, Meghan and Joseph Swan. The purchase was the culmination of their quest to buy a home for their active family of five, made possible with help from Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA), Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development (ACCD) and Champlain Housing Trust (CHT).

PATRICK DIMAMBERO HIRED AS STAFF ACCOUNTANT

BURLINGTON—Executive Director Sarah Carpenter announced Patrick DiMambro of Burlington, VT has joined Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA) as Staff Accountant. Patrick is a recent graduate of Champlain College with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Accounting. Besides being one of Champlain’s top accounting graduates, Patrick also served as Director of Finance for the Champlain student government association.

CYNTHIA REID PROMOTED TO ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT

BURLINGTON—Executive Director Sarah Carpenter announced Cynthia Reid of Huntington has been promoted to Assistant Director of Development at Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA). Reid joined the Agency in 1996 as a Development Officer. She held progressively higher responsible positions throughout her tenure until reaching her most recent position as Senior Development Underwriter. Before joining VHFA, she spent nearly 10 years in affordable housing working at Central Vermont Community Land Trust and Burlington Community Land Trust.
