8 short streetVHFA joins Central Vermont Community Land Trust (CVCLT) and the Vermont Department of Economics, Housing and Community Development for an open house next month. The event celebrates the completion of a special home that's part of the Housing Acquisition & Rehabilitation Program (HARP).

The home, at 8 Short St., Barre Town, is a two-bedroom, open-concept home ready for a new family. It's one of several that were acquired by VHFA under HARP using federal Neighborhood Stabilization Program funds to be rehabilitated and resold to income eligible Vermonters. Like all HARP properties, grants are in place to assure the property will remain affordable for future owners.

Contractors performed renovations to this home with an special eye toward low operating costs and energy efficiency. Efficiency Vermont has awarded this home a five-star energy rating.

There'll be light refreshments and tours of the house during the open house, which starts at 3 p.m. on Nov. 9.
